Today: Virtual Business Innovators - Context-Sensitive Ads in Second Life

Join us today for an informative discussion with Jacob Sullivan (known in Second Life as Navillus Batra), CEO of i3D, when he will be releasing a new context-sensitive ad system that can be integrated into any existing virtual world object.

i3D is well known in virtual worlds for the SilverStream Network, available to virtual world consumers for free using an advertising revenue model. Through this network, consumers are able to receive content in several ways, including: Virtual Kiosks - stationary virtual display units that deliver media to avatars who pass within their range; vHUDs - virtual world Heads Up Displays deployed along with SilverStream Servers to extend the delivery of media and applications throughout the 3D Internet; and Collab - a collection of collaboration applications that enhance the conferencing capabilities of the 3D Internet by replicating familiar presentation and collaborative tools in a virtual environment.

While these past inventions have changed the way many work and play in Second Life, this latest invention of a context-sensitive ad API could change the way many think about product development and profit models. The system looks at the objects in the surrounding area, does a keyword search, and serves up advertising appropriate to the environment. Profit from click-throughs is shared between i3D and the creator of the object running the ad API.

Come early to be sure that you can secure a seat in our 60 seat amphitheater on Zebra HQ. If you're unable to make it the show will be broadcast through SLCN.tv. We also strongly encourage questions; send your questions right away or during the show to Jenn Hienrichs via an IM.
